WELCOME!
I’m Josie, a Plymouth photographer based in the south west specialising in fashion, portraits and lifestyle. When I first started my degreee at Arts Plymouth University, I was adamant on refining my graphic/digital skills. As l developed these technical skills, I fell in love with editorial fashion and the attention to retouch detail. I have designed innovative magazines and book covers, which has enabled me to conceptualise logo designs and business cards for small businesses by promoting their brand. I feel I am able to provide a bigger picture visually and provide insights and reccomendations to people who ask.
Insight on my most recent work:
For my final major project, I have been investigating identities through fashion and capturing different people in unconventional spaces. This concept of breaking the norms of reality which is becoming an ever evolving social phenomena. For instance, street style rejects traditional fashion nowadays, it allows inspiration for individuals to redefine the boundaries of fashion. However, it could still be argued that the movement of anti-fashion will still be in competition with traditional fashion.
The goal of this project is to show that fashion can be enhanced by juxaposing perspectives from different disciplines such as communication and cultural studies. In other words, fashion is but a principle of social recognition and assimilation, fashion follows from a desire.
